Well, it seemed for a while there that every time we had a Cape Breton group coming to our Island---where it rarely snows---they BROUGHT SNOW WITH THEM! Witness:
-The night before Wendy MacIsaac was to come play an afternoon ceilidh for us, the snow fell nonstop for hours. The lights were out in the hall and the Malahat Hwy--over which she had to travel to get to us...was closed!
-The Barra MacNeils played Courtenay in 2007--the closest place they could come to our community then--and the SNOW was falling so heavily the highway up was virtually impassable! The party we were supposed to meet could not get out our their driveway!
-The Cottars performance was to have had a busload of Comox Valley seniors come to it, but due to SNOW the bus coming to get them broke down and the merry seniors waiting for their bus to arrive at the hotel where they lunched were left stranded....
Okay, so we bit the bullet and tempted fate by booking the fabulous Barra MacNeils for their Christmas show next month. Getting the publicity together, I'm looking for nice, warm seasonal photos of them. What do they send me--a picture of them playing in the SNOW!
..AN OMEN?!!! I'm taking bets from any of you out there....
