TIM READMAN

“A guitarist, singer and songwriter with a large repertoire of varied material and a well-honed sense of humour.”     Celtic Connection, Canada

“There are a lot of people who play folk music. Tim Readman is folk music … He knows which side he is on and why. He also understands how an artist and their music can bring a room together and make everyone feel welcome.”   Vancouver Folk Music Festival

Vancouver BC's Tim Readman is a musician, folksinger, songwriter, producer and music journalist, originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. He is the former leader of Canadian Celtic/folk favourites Fear of Drinking and has played for years with The Arrogant Worms. He also plays guitar, sings and writes with ace Celtic fiddler Shona Le Mottee. He has produced a number of CDs for other folk acts. He writes for Canada's folk roots magazine Penguin Eggs. He was the Artistic Director for the 2008 and 2009 CelticFest Vancouver and is still with them as performer, musical host and MC. He has an extensive repertoire of original songs and can also perform everything from traditional murder ballads to more contemporary material by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Steely Dan and Madonna. He can entertain in any setting, from concert hall to campfire and makes people laugh at every show. He has just released a new CD of mainly traditional British and Irish folk songs entitled Out of the Green.

JENNIE BICE

Fiddle player/vocalist Jennie Bice came to Vancouver from Ontario in search of players driven enough to go the speed she wanted, and bold enough to try some of her ideas. Bice's various recordings and musical history span many genres including Celtic, roots, jazz, blues, rock, Cajun and classical which account for her unique playing style. You may have already seen her performances with Prydwen, Mad Pudding, Back Door Slam and Kat Wahamaa, amongst others, and if you have, you'll know she really lights up a stage! Jennie first played with Tim in Fear of Drinking in 1999 and has since appeared with him in many line-ups, as well as playing on his CD, Into the Red.

Bice has performed with dozens of bands over the years, starting out professionally in Windsor, Ontario playing with bands such as, "Celtic Cross." "Lynne and the Rebels" and "Skye Blue" as well as acting in many theatrical roles in summer and stock theatre companies.Tim Readman also guested with Jennie's band Prydwen. Their almost annual appearances on the Main Stage at Mission Folk Festival have become a popular feature of this fabulous musical gathering.

When Jennie and Tim perform together, the sparks fly!
