Kathy Stacey (British Columbia)

Originally from Cheshire, England, Kathy Stacey began playing cello at age nine. In London she trained at the Royal College of Music and performed all over England.

While at the college, Kathy played with many guest artists including a Royal Gala performance with Placido Domingo for Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Since making Vancouver Island her home in 1989, Kathy has continued to play professionally. She currently holds the position of assistant principal cello in the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra. She also performs regularly as a session musician (live & in studio) and with the Guitar & Cello duos Ten Strings and a Bow and Us and formerly with the Celtic-rock ensemble "The Bremen Town Musicians".

Kathy is the Owner/Director of Kathy’s Music Box, Nanaimo’s premier children’s music school. She is also the Education Coordinator for the Vancouver Island Symphony, assisting the Symphony with their Education Concert Programs by developing the Teacher's Resource Handbooks, each year, that the Symphony distributes to the schools prior to their concerts.
