Kathy
Stacey (British
Columbia)
Originally from Cheshire,
England, Kathy Stacey began playing cello at age nine. In London
she trained at the Royal College of Music and performed all over
England.
While at the
college, Kathy played with many guest artists including a Royal
Gala performance with Placido Domingo for Prince Charles and Princess
Diana.
Since making
Vancouver Island her home in 1989, Kathy has continued to play
professionally. She currently holds the position of assistant
principal cello in the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra. She
also performs regularly as a session musician (live & in studio)
and with the Guitar & Cello duos Ten Strings and a Bow and
Us and formerly with the Celtic-rock ensemble "The Bremen Town
Musicians".
Kathy is the
Owner/Director of Kathy’s Music Box, Nanaimo’s premier children’s
music school. She is also the Education Coordinator for the Vancouver
Island Symphony, assisting the Symphony with their Education Concert
Programs by developing the Teacher's Resource Handbooks, each
year, that the Symphony distributes to the schools prior to their
concerts.
