Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt: Specialised Kinesiology

Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt has the extraordinarily gifted ability to entertain and captivate, bringing audiences to their feet. Accompanying her voice on the Celtic harp, Wendy is well known for her performing and teaching of a variety of music, ranging from the well-loved folk songs of the British Isles and Canada to bright and witty songs written for her. Wendy trained musically at the Royal Manchester College of Music (England), the Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria), the Banff Centre (Academy of Singing and Festival Opera), as well as the University of BC and University of Alberta Opera departments.
As an extension of her recording, performing and teaching careers, Wendy became a specialised kinesiology practitioner and instructor. She continues to teach young and professional musicians; but presently her main focus is teaching courses in Performers' Kinesiology Techniques to performing arts organisations and at educational institutions throughout Canada. She has created a stress release and performance enhancement program for performers and athletes, called "Performing on the Right Side of the Brain", which she teaches at the University of Toronto. She has presented this material for the N.A.T.S. teachers' workshop, the ORMTA Conference 2000, and has been invited to present this in singing masterclasses in Brazil.
Wendy is also teaching the Celtic Harp Program

Sandra Acton: Pilates
Instructor/Owner Pilates Works Studio

Sandra has a background in ballet, modern dance and Pilates. She has continued to train in anatomy as it relates to both posture and movement. This combination of skills allows her to work with musicians and dancers alike to assess postural imbalances that may be affecting performance levels. This year, in order to take advantage of Sandra's skills she will be teaching classes that look at individual students' posture as it relates to their particular art. The aim will be to give each student at least one simple postural task to work with to help improve the quality of their dancing or playing. These will be very interactive classes involving both the students and instructors in the assessment process. As always, there will still be a Pilates class offered for those who would like to attend.

Sandra has a B.A. in Dance from Simon Fraser University, 1982. She performed, choreographed and taught modern dance in Vancouver for many years. Training and teaching Pilates since 1990 with Dianne Miller at the Dianne Miller Pilates Centre of Vancouver, certifying with both Dianne Miller and The Physical Mind Institute (then of New Mexico) 1995. Sandra has continued to study anatomy with Howard Jones physiotherapist,Tom Myers - Rolfer and author of The Anatomy Trains, Suzanne Baker - physiotherapist. She is currently undertaking the study of craniosacral therapy with Dr. Michael Shea.
