Friends of CeltFest:

It is with the greatest of sadness we learned yesterday of the passing of Raylene Rankin, of the Rankin Family of Cape Breton. CeltFest had the joy of working with Raylene to present her on Vancouver Island in 2006, witnessing first-hand the strong spirit behind the performer. Raylene was a driving force behind the success of the Rankin Family, who propelled Cape Breton and Celtic music onto the world stage.

On a personal note, in a few days I will be in Mabou, our second home, Raylene's home town, to attend Celtic Colours festival. Our sympathy and wishes of condolence go out to our friends, our  "second family" in that special place in Inverness County, and all the people who have shared her incredible journey.

Take a few minutes to listen to this CBC interview, "All the Diamonds" recorded recently. I guarantee you'll be glad you did.  "Like the waves out in the ocean, we rise again". Thank you, Raylene.
