Bodhran Program Instructor:   Paul O'Brien
BASIC - For those who have very little or no experience (less than one year) playing the Irish drum. This class will explain how to hold the stick and strike the drum, how to play some basic reel and jig rhythms, and introduce some advanced techniques and rhythms.
ADVANCED - For those who are past the basic level.  More advanced beatings and tricks will be introduced.
*Participants should bring along their bodhran and favourite tipper(s) (plus whatever irrigation equipment they might need). If they don't have a bodhran, a hard-cover book about the size of a high school binder will do.
Hand Drumming/Percussion Instructor: Doug Feaver
This course is open to every level of proficiency, simple to advanced. You'll learn the basic rhythms and time signatures common to all forms of Celtic music, and how to play them on djembe, congas, shakers, or anything! We will be the "noisy ones".

But you're going to learn how to play quietly too, and for that matter, when NOT to play! By week's end, you'll have accompanied vocalists, fiddles, bagpipes, and dancers.

This course will provide something interesting, informative, and useful to percussionists of ANY level. Bring whatever you would like to drum on - djembe, conga, bongos, maracas and shakers are all welcome.
