What to Bring

Be prepared for an action packed week by bringing the following items to CeltFest!


All students

  • Pens 
  • Pencils 
  • Notebook  
  • Binder or folder for handouts  
  • Recording devices for musicians (optional)  
  • Water bottle  
  • Wacky costume for those participants in the Jig and Hornpipe Contest  
  • Shorts  
  • Long Pants  
  • Raingear  
  • Sweater for evening
  • Outdoor Sportswear & Sunscreen 
  • Bathing suit 
  • Beach towel 
  • Bug repellent  
  • Highland Dress/Irish Costumes are Optional  
  • Your best attitude for a fun-filled week of learning! 

Pipers 

  • Pipes  
  • Chanter (penny whistle for Irish pipers)  
  • Solo and band music  
  • Maintenance items for instruments 

Drummers

  • Practice pad, sticks, drums, and drum scores

Highland Dancers

   Females

  • Highland shoes and Jig shoes. (beginner dancers may bring ballet shoes or any soft, form-fitting, flexible slippers)
  • Leotard or t-shirt and booty shorts or skort | Light-coloured tights or socks for classwork  
  • Cover-ups  
  • Practise skirt--a black skirt is handy for any spontaneous group numbers 
  • Performance costumes if you would like to perform at the ceilidhs.
  • Highland Dress is Optional 

   Males

  • Highland shoes and Jig shoes. (beginner dancers may bring ballet shoes or any soft, form-fitting, flexible slippers)
  • Shorts/Sweats & T-shirts 

Irish Dancers

   Females

  • Black leotards, tights and skirt 
  • Performance Costumes/ Wacky Jig & Hornpipe get-up if you would like to perform
  • Irish Costumes are Optional 

   Males

  • Black pants  
  • White shirt  
  • Shorts  
  • T-shirts 
  • Performance Costumes/ Wacky Jig & Hornpipe get-up if you would like to perform
  • Irish Costumes are Optional

Penny Whistlers

  • Penny Whistle in the Key of D 

Celtic Harpists

  • Intermediate Level: Harp, sheet music  
  • Beginners: Please notify us if you need to borrow or rent a harp

Celtic Singers/Songwriters

  • For Singing: Just your voices - songbooks will be provided  (Some bring small recorders for the repertoire part of song class) 
  • For songwriting: notebook or paper

Fiddlers 

  • Fiddle, bows
  • Sheet music optional - instructors will provide what is necessary

Guitarists

  • Your favourite guitar, pics, and accoutrements
  • Harmonica optional 
  • Percussion instruments optional

Bodhran and Percussionists

  • Bodhran, tippers or other relevant percussion instruments
  • Beginner bodhran players may bring a hard-topped binder
  • Other percussion instruments optional

Celtic Knotworkers 

  • Sketchpad  
  • Pencils  
  • Colour medium of your choice

Pilates & Health & Wellness People 

  • Light, loose, flexible clothing
  • yoga style mat if you own one
