MORE on the ceilidh entertainers:

~Ivonne Hernandez~ Ivonne is a 5-time Grand North American Fiddle Champion, and has performed with Mark O'Connor, Alan Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Jann Arden, U2's the Edge, Natalie MacMaster, Earth Wind and Fire, Steve Winwood, Burt Bacharach, Juan Louis Guerra, Rosa Pasos, Ben Hepner and the legendary film composer Howard Shore.

Ivonne has played for the Governor General of Canada and at folk and fiddle music festivals around the world. With her band, she has toured and also taught all over North America, the Caribbean and Europe. She was offered a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in three years at the top of her class with a dual major in Vilin Performance and Music Business & Management.

With many albums to her credit, Ivonne has mastered Canada's traditional fiddle music, and embodies the country's 21st century muticulturalism as her music reflects the marriage of cultural influences.

~Jeremy Walsh~ a talented entertainer and songwriter in the tradition of Paxton and Guthrie, Jeremy Walsh draws from many different traditions of folk music including Celtic, Appalacian, French Canadian, Bluegrass, Irish, Maritime and Newfoundland. Produced by High McMillan of "Spirit of the West", "Self Titled Debut" follows Jeremy's successful stint as a key performer, vocalist and writer in the Canadian band "Scruj MacDuhk." While his music ranges from lilting Celtic to furious folk rock, all is delivered with passion and a highly infectious energy. It's no wonder he has shared stages with Eileen Ivers, Lunasa, James Keelaghan, Dervish, The Paperboys and Great Big Sea.

~Rene Cusson~ a master piper extraodinaire, Rene has a varied career of garnering many major awards in the piping world, leading bands, and guest performing with such notable Celtic bands as Dochas and Breabach in the UK, and also with Beolach and the Barra MacNeils here in Canada. Rene's original compositions have been classics all over the world, in both the piping and folk music arenas.

~O'Connor~O'Brien School of Irish Dance, the sister school of Glengarry Dance, brings extra energy to this unique event and recently began to offer classes in Nanaimo through the Glengarry School.

~Glengarry School of Dance sprang from the annual CeltFest summer school held in Nanaimo. The dance school, unique in its offerings of live music and Celtic cultural experiences, is celebrating five years on Vancouver Island with its principal Carolyn Phillips-Cusson bringing three decades of dance teaching to her students.

A silent auction and other fund & games at the event are fundraisers for the Glengarry Community Fund, with proceeds going to costumes and supplies needed for the Glengarry Dancers, who are in increased demand for local community performances. www.glengarrydance.com
